Canadian iTunes To Get T.V. Downloads
According to a post on ars technica, T.V. downloads could be coming to the Canadian iTunes store as early as tonight, or tomorrow (if everything goes smoothly)!
“Users will begin to see shows from CBC, CTV, and a handful of shows from US networks. Oh, and for you hardcore Canadians out there, we hear that you can look forward to spying some NHL games through the iTunes Store too.”
This is big news. The delay was caused by issues with Canadian networks who hold the right to broadcast U.S. shows in Canada. Obviously, they don’t want Canadians to be able to get those shows from somewhere else. But if this goes through, they have clearly made a deal with Apple. We’ll see how much content is in the store once it officially launches, but this is big step forward. After much complaining and ranting it’s nice to see Canadian distributors acknowledging the internet. Hopefully they start adding movies too.
